Getmetacos - About Me

I‘m naturally inductive. I like to find patterns in the noise. Observe it. Group it. Categorize it. Find an underlying order. Now use it to your advantage.

I’m not your typical designer. I have undergrad (Marketing) and graduate (MBA) degrees in business coupled with a passion to create. I’m bilingual in the language of creative and business. I can equally argue ligatures and cash flow valuations in the same happy hour.

I’m a native Texas sans the “accent.” I don’t know how or why, but perhaps I missed that day in grammar school.

I’m always learning something… anything… everything… After finishing my undergrad, I decided to forgo a decent salary and followed my passion to intern for an ad agency. Minimum wage never tasted so sweet.

I prefer to do it right the first time. Foresight and follow through in planning stages reap volumes of saved resources and fulfilled expectations in the long run. Think it through. Every time.

My crossfit addiction parallels my personal strategy. Make every rep count. Train hard and fast. Routine is the enemy. Follow strict form. Learn and play every day.

I believe in functional design. I don’t design for design’s sake. Everything has a purpose, function and meaning.

I know my excavators from my front end loaders. I worked as a pipeline laborer during summers throughout high school and college. I’m no stranger to grueling work, thinking on your feet, scorching heat (even in the shade), operating heavy machinery and appreciating a job well done. And NEVER forget your gloves.

Minuscule details are my friends. I’ve grown to accept and embrace my perfectionist tendencies.

I‘m never afraid of a challenge. I went from couch to Olympic Distance Triathlon (swim 1 mile, bike 24 miles, run 6 miles) in 8 months. During this race I overcame a wetsuit-induced hyperventilation in the first 2 minutes, picked up a flat on the bike and realized that constant hydration has its consequences. I found my limits, blew past them and kept pushing each and every day. I found the joy of 5am and the resulting aftermath of accomplishment before arriving to work each morning. Also, swimming in Lake Michigan can be face-numbingly frigid- even with a wet suit.

Standards are there for a reason. Follow protocol and you might learn why it’s so important. Now you can make it better.

I was this close to being a biomedical engineer. Really. After 2+ years of differential equations and ATP pathways, I realized my heart wasn’t in it. I made a painful change mid-stream in my college career. It’s never too late to do the right thing.
